What we place
Coverage built line by line.
Every policy on this list answers a different question about your business. We'll tell you which ones apply to yours — and which ones don't.
General liability
Covers third-party injury and property damage claims — the coverage most contracts and leases ask for first.
Commercial property
Protects your building, equipment, and inventory against fire, theft, and other covered damage.
Workers' compensation
Required for California businesses with employees — covers medical care and lost wages after a workplace injury.
Commercial auto
Covers the vehicles your business owns or uses, from a single work truck to a small fleet.
Business owner's policy (BOP)
Bundles general liability and property into one policy for businesses that qualify.
Professional liability / E&O
Responds when a client claims your work, advice, or service caused them a financial loss.
Cyber liability
Covers data breaches, ransomware, and funds-transfer fraud — including notification and recovery costs.
Commercial umbrella
Adds a layer of liability limits above your underlying policies when a contract calls for more.
Tools, equipment & inland marine
Covers gear that moves — tools, machinery, and equipment in transit or on the job site.
Bonds, when applicable
Contractor license bonds and other surety bonds when a license or project requires one.
What we recommend depends on your business, its operations, and carrier eligibility — not every line applies to every operation.

Built around how California works.
From job sites to storefronts to client work, each of these carries its own risks and its own carrier appetite — we know which markets want your class of business.

Common questions
Answers before you ask.
What insurance does my California business actually need?
California requires workers' compensation for businesses with employees — even one. Beyond that, the requirements usually come from your contracts, lease, or license: clients and landlords often set minimum liability limits before you can start work. The right mix depends on how your business actually operates, which is exactly what a quote conversation sorts out.
Can you provide certificates of insurance when a client or landlord asks?
Yes. A certificate of insurance (COI) is the one-page document proving your coverage is active — clients, landlords, and general contractors routinely require one before work begins. We handle certificates for our clients as an ongoing part of the service, including additional insured requests and contract-specific wording.
I already have a policy. Will you review it?
Yes. A review looks for the gaps that build up quietly: coverage that doesn't match what you actually do, outdated classifications, and limits that haven't kept up with your growth in revenue, payroll, or headcount. You get a plain-English read on where you stand, whether or not you change anything.
Do you only work with California businesses?
Yes — Driftstone works exclusively with California businesses. That focus means deep familiarity with how companies here operate: the state's workers' comp requirements, the way local contracts and leases are written, and which carriers are actively writing each class of business in California.
